I was going for the Necrotic Grip last night doing the Legend Lost Sector. My engram inventory was full. I got three different exotic engrams that went to the postmaster but when I decrypted them they were boots instead of arms. It's RNG. But there is a bit of a trick that can help with older exotics if you are willing to put in a few extra steps. Step one is to fill up your engrams so that any exotic you get will go to your postmaster as an engram. Step two is to farm any lost sector until you have a few engrams in your postmaster. Doesn't matter what the daily reward is.
